Itatinga Hydro-Electric Power Station
The Itatinga Hydro-Electric Power Station, located in the city of Bertioga, has been supplying the Port of Santos with energy since 1910. The Port still employs all of its power production. The provisioning of the station occurs through a water thread, which means, direct impounding from Itatinga River in a small natural accumulation in the Serra do Mar (a mountain range). There are no dams; the production of the station depends only on the river´s discharge.
The Itatinga Village was built and planned to attend its residents. The style of the buildings is English, which comes to be quite an attraction for visitors, also because of the wonderful landscape and surroundings.
To get to the Village, there is a boat which crosses Itapanhaú River. On the opposite margin is the streetcar station with a locomotive built in 1909. Visitors travel 8 km on it until they reach the village.
There will be walks to the natural pools and rapids.
